Richard Dale "Dick"  Metz
Richard “Dick” Metz, 90, of Shinnston passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017 at the Fresenius Kidney Care Dialysis Center in Fairmont.
He was born September 7, 1927 in Shinnston a son of the late Sam and Marie Bock Metz.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Rose Marie Metz whom he married on September 10, 1960.
Also surviving are his three nieces, Jane Shultz and husband Todd; Sally Metz; and Susie Dolt, and her children, Corey and Caroline; all of Louisville, KY; a special nephew, Michael Metz and his wife Bonita of Corzet, VA and their children, Joshua and Matthew; four-cousins, Carol Jean Newlon; David Clark; and Todd Hall all of Fairmont; and Billy Bock of Shinnston; his very, very special friends, Tracy and Regina Colton of Shinnston; as well as a good friend and nurse, Stephanie Rexroad of Clarksburg.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Lee Metz as well as his mother and father-in-law, John and Catherine Spadafore.
Dick was Owner and Operator of Shinnston Appliance. He received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his service with the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He and Rose were members of the Charles Street Christian Church. Dick was also a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Meuse-Argonne VFW Post #573 in Clarksburg, the American Legion Post #31 in Shinnston, and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a loving husband who liked to travel.
Rose would like to thank Jan-Care Ambulance, Fresenius Kidney Care Dialysis Center, and the VA Hospital in Pittsburgh for their excellent care.
The family will receive friends at Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S Pike St. Shinnston, on Wednesday from 3-8 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, September 28th at 11:00 AM with Rev. Lynn White officiating. Entombment will follow at the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum.
