Earl “Chet” Efaw, 81, of Bridgeport, formerly of Shinnston, passed away at 9:00pm, Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the United Hospital Center, Bridgeport. He was born in Monongah, April 9, 1936, a son of the late Emmett Earl and Madeline Enoch Efaw. Surviving are his children, Tammy Benincosa and her husband John, Stonewood, Maj. Todd A. Efaw, USAF (ret.), Navarre, FL, grandson, Derek S. Patrick and his wife Amy, Bridgeport, great grandson, Reid William Patrick, brother, Tommy Efaw and his wife Kay, Fairmont, two sisters, Judy White, Fairmont, Helen Floyd and her husband John, Front Royal, VA, and several nieces and nephews.
Chet was a 1954 graduate of Shinnston High School and a veteran having served with the United States Air Force. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service before beginning computer training. He later worked as a computer programmer and analyst. He pursued his passion of flying, completing his solo flight in 1970. He flew as a corporate pilot for many years and trained Air Force and Navy air crews in combat tactics.
The family will receive friends at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 2-8pm, Thursday where funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday, April 13.
